Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. and Star Wars

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows & Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back

When we talk about the Harry Potter and Star Wars series we are talking about two of the biggest movie franchise of all time. These are also two of the top three box office grossing movie series of all time. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows & Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back are not too similar on an individual comparison but the biggest similarity between the two are they both are key installments of each franchise. Also, each series has a ultimate good guy versus the ultimate villain. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is about Harry, Ron and Hermione searching for Horcruxes so they can destroy then since they hold pieces of Voldemort; while Voldemort is searching for the one wand that can finally put an end to legendary Harry Potter’s life. Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back is important because it is the beginning of Luke Skywalker’s training to become a Jedi Knight so that he can try to restore balance to the force, along with us finding out at the end that Darth Vader is Luke’s father. The Harry Potter series reminds me a little bit of Star Wars but not to the extent that I would call it this generation’s Star Wars. Star Wars is too legendary to be considered to anything; even something like Harry Potter. One thing is for sure though, Harry Potter and Star Wars definitely big pieces in the history of cinema.

  1. This compare/contrast needs work. You only listed two similarities: both films are big franchises and that the main characters must face the ultimate evil villain. Also, you need to explain these similarities. For example, when you mention that both films contain an ultimate evil, you should explain who/what the evil for each film. This is not where you would provide a summary for the films.

Aside from that, your sentence about how "Star Wars is too legendary to be considered to anything" seems to ignore the point of the assignment. For example, the main characters in "The Empire Strikes Back" are on the run from the villains (the Rebellion's base at Hoth is overrun and the members are scattered). Likewise, in "Harry Potter," the characters are on the run from Voldemort after Harry's location has been discovered. There are comparisons to be drawn, and if you say that "Star Wars" is "too legendary to be considered to anything," then you should explain why it is that comparisons can't be made. Otherwise, like I said above, it seems like you are just ignoring the assignment.
